ETOG – Ground Sensor

For use with the ET02 snow and ice melting controller, the ETOG sensor is designed for embedding in the surface of the outdoor area. The ETOG sensor measures ground temperature and moisture. The ETOG sensor should be installed where the worst snow and ice problems normally occur. The sensor should be embedded in a concrete base on a hard surface with the top of the sensor flush with the surface.

Will any third party sensor work with the CommBox or ResiBox?

The CommBox and Resibox have been programmed to work with a variety of third-party sensors. Click “Read More” for details.

Where are the DIP switches located on the COMMBOX-600?

The four DIP switches are located on the back of the thermostat unit on back of the door as shown in picture. Click “Read More” for details.

What Does the HI/LO Error message mean on my COMMBOX?

The HI/LO error message means that the ambient sensor readings (on snow sensor) are out of reliable measuring range. Click “Read More” for details.

What does COMMBOX error code “SensErr 2” mean?

Error 2 “SensErr 2” will appear when the upper limit sensor is not connected or has short-circuited. Click “Read More” for details.

What does COMMBOX error code “SensErr 1” mean?

Error 1 “SensErr 1” will appear when there is a communication error with one (or more) snow sensors. Click “Read More” for details.

What do each of the COMMBOX DIP Switches Mean?

Programming your COMMBOX-600

The COMMBOX-600 is a “Plug and Play” controlled power distribution panel for frost protection, ice and snow melting projects. When receiving a signal from the sensor(s)m the contactors are activated, energizing your heating system. Click “Read More” for details.

How many Mats or Amps can I connect to the CommBox?

The CommBox-600 is equipped with four (4) 50Amp 3-Phase relay contactors. Click “Read More” for details.

How long should I program my CommBox to melt snow?

It will vary depending on the depth of the cable in the material (concrete, pavers or asphalt) and the voltage input into the cable (280-240-277). Click “Read More” for details.

Do I need to provide a transformer to wire in 3-phase?

To wire in 3-phase you need 3-phase supply power. Click “Read More” for details.

Can one AirSense be used with two CommBoxes?

Out of the box, no. Each ‘box’ will need its own sensor to trigger. Click “Read More” for more details.

Can I use the Commbox or Resibox with single phase electric?

The BOX system can be used with single-phase electric power. Click “Read More” for details.

What are the amperage capabilities of each Box at each voltage?

The amperage capacity of the Resibox is 120A and for the Commbox it is 230 Amps. The Resibox has (4) of the 30A/2-pole contactors rated 120-277V for a total of maximum 120A load capacity. Click “Read More” for details.

The ETOG snow and ice melting ground sensor must be wired to specific terminals inside the ET02 controller.  Click “Read More” for details.
