Installation

Can I install my Warmup system directly on top of plywood?

This page outlines installation recommendations when installing over a plywood sub-floor.

Can I install a 120V mat on one leg of a double pole breaker?

There is no neutral leg on a double pole breaker and the polarity between the two sides does not match. This will cause the thermostat to trip and/or it will send too much voltage into a 120V heater.

Can I Have Another Thermostat as an Acting Relay?

When you have multiple floor heating systems being powered that require more than 15amps, you can use an additional 3iE as a relay as opposed to purchasing a separate generic relay which Warmup can supply.

Can I connect one Warmup heater to another in series?

Connecting one system to the other in series is often referred to as “daisy chaining”. Each floor heating system must be connected individually to the operating floor heating thermostat.

Can I connect more than one Warmup heater to a thermostat?

As long as all systems that connect to the thermostat do not exceed 15 amps, running multiple leads up the conduit to the thermostat location is completely acceptable.

Can a wooden floating floor be installed directly over the Warmup NADWS system?

This page discusses installation methods required for installing a Warmup heating system under a floating wood floor.

What type of thinset should I use with my Warmup system?

We highly recommend the use of polymer-modified adhesives, also known as “modified thinset.” Since the addition of the polymer compound creates a more dense bonding reaction during the curing process, this ultimately improves heat distribution. Acceptable tile adhesives include modified polymer self-leveler or thinset.

What do I need to prepare for my electric floor heating project?

Before you order your floor heating system, there are a several things you can do in preparation. Read this before your start!

Installing the Sensor Probe

It is vital that the floor heating thermostat’s floor probe was not only installed but done so the right way.  Click “Read More” for details. Make sure that the sensor probe is installed underneath the mat and placed equidistant BETWEEN two runs of heater wire.

Do I choose cable or mat electric floor heating systems?

This page explains the difference of the mat and loose cable options but ultimately either the cable or mat option will give you the design freedom you are looking for.
